The Pinkwater leader, freed in the breakout, thanks the captors sarcastically and departs with the Somnambulist and his wounded man.
Bound with the others in the Earthers' improvised holding room, Wendell presses Holden on who could have grabbed them ("is there somebody you've pissed off?") and half-jokes he wishes he'd shot the captain when he had the chance. When the reversal comes, he pitches the medic woman into a guard's line of fire and helps subdue the room in ten seconds. Freed, he sarcastically thanks the medical team for tending his people, takes the Weeping Somnambulist key from Holden again, and — refusing to leave the now-stabilized Guthrie, loaded onto a gurney — bids Holden a wry farewell ("Let's not do this again") and leads his surviving Pinkwater mercs off toward their ship before reinforcements arrive.
A big Martian man in tight military-police armor, one incisor dyed red, favoring a broken wrist; grimly amused as the tables turn.
Pinkwater leader who survives capture, reclaims the Somnambulist, and parts ways with Holden's crew.
