Rosenfeld Guoliang

Rosenfeld

Rosenfeld exploits Marco's retreat to press Filip toward accepting the practical need for someone else to command the Free Navy.

Story so far

Rosenfeld is Marco's old Voltaire Collective ally and a member of the Pella's inner circle. As Michio Pa's revolt spreads, he takes over the flagship's command center in all but name, receiving the tightbeam traffic that Marco leaves unanswered and gauging the fleet's rising panic.

He tells Filip Inaros that the Witch of Endor is recovering hidden supplies, ships are joining Pa, and Fred Johnson is organizing from Ceres. Presenting himself as a small, necessary man who keeps engines and filters running while great men disappear into the void, he invites Filip to stand with him if orders must be issued without Marco. Filip refuses the implied replacement and instead brings the report to his father. When Marco returns, Rosenfeld smoothly accepts orders to identify and destroy Pa's defectors.

Appearance

A thin, dark-skinned older Belter with a pebbled, cyst-marked face, tired eyes, and Voltaire and OPA tattoos; in float he cants his body slightly from the ship, making his presence feel taller and more threatening.

Role

Rosenfeld is the faction's pragmatic hard-liner, willing to preserve Free Navy motion and discipline even when Marco's charisma fails to supply it.

Relationships

[[Marco Inaros]] — He protects Marco's command position in public while quietly testing how much authority he can exercise during Marco's withdrawal.
[[Filip Inaros]] — He uses Filip's filial loyalty as a possible route to legitimacy, then yields when the boy insists on Marco.
[[Michio Pa]] — Her rebellion is the immediate crisis he wants the Free Navy to answer with decisive orders.
