Iapetus Station

Iapetus

An old Saturnian ice station accepts Pa's redirected colony supplies while holding carefully apart from every warring side.

Story so far

Iapetus Station orbits Saturn's moon rather than resting on it, with two long counter-rotating habitation arms around a central docking hub. Automated ice works glitter on the moon below, and its docks are crowded with old water haulers exploiting the collapse of former tariffs. The administration has not declared for or against Marco Inaros, but it gladly accepts a chance to become less dependent on Earth and Mars.

Michio Pa brings the captured Hornblower into berth with its crew, prisoners, refugees, and colonist supplies. Iapetus takes custody of the people and receives hydroponic equipment badly needed after Earth shipments fail, making the station an early proof that Pa's stolen cargo can sustain rather than merely enrich the Belt.

Appearance

An aging orbital station with two long counter-rotating arms and habitation rings around a central dock; ancient water haulers, ice containers, and Saturn's rings fill its surrounding view.

Role

Iapetus is a cautiously neutral Belt refuge whose shortages make Pa's relief program immediately tangible.

Relationships

[[Michio Pa]] — Pa chooses it as the first recipient of redirected Hornblower supplies and a safe destination for people taken in the seizure.
[[Hornblower]] — The colony ship docks there so its cargo and passengers can be redistributed safely.
