Ceres Evacuation

Marco's evacuation of Ceres

Marco orders Free Navy forces off Ceres before a UN assault, deliberately leaving its millions of civilians behind.

Story so far

After the fall of the Azure Dragon, Marco Inaros tells his inner circle that the UN Navy is heading for Ceres Station. He presents withdrawal as an Afghan-style strategy of refusing the enemy the territory it wants: Free Navy soldiers and material will evacuate, while Earth is expected to keep the station's six million civilians alive for political reasons.

The order overturns Marco's promises to build a Belter civilization and reroutes the colony ships Michio Pa captured away from needy stations and into dark storage. Anderson Dawes recognizes a personal revenge for Filip beneath the rhetoric; Pa sees proof that Marco will sacrifice the people he claims to liberate.

Appearance

A political evacuation conducted through dock orders, rerouted ships, and the ominous prospect of an emptied station awaiting a naval assault.

Role

The evacuation exposes the difference between Marco's revolutionary image and his willingness to turn civilians into strategic burdens.
