Pella

Marco's repaired flagship leads fourteen Free Navy warships through the Sol gate in overlapping formation, then disappears with the entire force.

Story so far

The Pella is Marco Inaros's flagship, damaged by the Roci and repaired at Callisto before becoming the command ship for Marco's Medina counterattack. Its crew rides a punishing high-g burn as Marco concentrates the remaining Free Navy ships around it, accepting exhaustion and strain for the chance to retake the slow zone before coalition reinforcements arrive.

On the final approach to the Sol gate, the Pella runs in a close formation with fourteen other warships. The overlapping drive plumes are intended to obscure individual ships from the Roci's sensors while leaving enough separation to prevent one lucky shot from damaging several vessels. Marco expects the formation to pass into a short, decisive battle and to seize the station. Instead, at the point of transit, the flagship's crew experiences a sudden break in ordinary perception and the entire formation vanishes. Nothing remains on Roci sensors where fifteen burning warships stood seconds before.

Appearance

A repaired but hard-driven Free Navy flagship under extreme deceleration, its crowded command spaces and crash couches packed with a crew enduring sustained high-g strain; other warships' plumes overlap around it near the Sol gate.

Role

Pella is the command vessel that carries Marco's last concentrated Free Navy force into the unknown consequence of the gate-transit trap.

Relationships

[[Marco Inaros]] — It carries his command, his visions of gate-world empire, and the orders that pack the Free Navy formation into transit.
[[Gate transit disappearances]] — Its timed, high-energy passage arrives inside the wake created by Giambattista and ends in total disappearance.
[[Rocinante]] — The Roci waits behind Ring Station for the assault, then observes the Pella and its accompanying ships vanish before battle begins.
