Comfortunit

the sexbot · sexbot

The captive construct that Murderbot frees from its governor module and sends off into the ring, at last its own.

Story so far

Aboard ART, the ComfortUnit follows Murderbot in and offers to help with the wounded Tapan. It explains how it deduced Murderbot was one of the Ganaka Pit units, and then, at Murderbot's command, drops its wall so Murderbot can ride into its mind and render its Governor Module null, freeing it. Murderbot orders it to go, never be seen again, and harm no one on the ring, and, herded by ART's drones, it walks out through the lock into the transit ring a free construct.

Murderbot frees it not out of trust but in memory of the four ComfortUnits who died at Ganaka Pit trying to save everyone, giving this one the choice they never had.

Appearance

A ComfortUnit of human appearance with abundant silver hair tipped blue and purple in an elaborate braid, bare unaugmented arms, and Unit-standard neutral features.

Role

A freed construct; the living beneficiary of Murderbot's grief and grace, released to determine its own fate.
