Maro

The collective's skeptic, vindicated and grateful, offering Murderbot a hug it cannot accept.

Story so far

Having fled RaviHyral with Rami when Tapan slipped away, Maro returns with the collective to reunite with the friend she feared they had lost. Her cynical read of Tlacey proved right at every turn, but she takes no satisfaction in it. Grateful to Murderbot, she offers it a hug, and when it is plainly unable to accept, she wraps her arms around herself and squeezes instead, a gesture of affection it can bear.

She leaves with the collective and the recovered work, their survival owed to the consultant they knew as 'Eden.'

Appearance

A young woman with very dark skin and silver-colored puffs of hair, in unmarked work clothes.

Role

The vindicated skeptic whose gentle self-hug becomes Murderbot's first bearable gesture of human affection.

Relationships

Murderbot — Thanks it and, unable to hug it, hugs herself for its sake, respecting its limits.
Tapan — Reunited with her, relieved past any anger at her recklessness.
Rami — Fled and returned with, sharing leadership of the group's ordeal.
