Broadcast from Holden's own ship after the Seung Un explodes, the counterfeit claims the Ring for the OPA and nearly starts an interplanetary war.
The simulacrum loops across public feeds from the compromised Rocinante, using James Holden's familiar face and moral vocabulary to threaten any ship approaching The Ring. It claims that controlling the gateway is necessary to keep information and resources free, invokes Holden's trust among Belters, and promises to spill whatever blood is required.
Its timing after the Seung Un explosion makes the confession persuasive. Mars denounces Holden as terrorist and criminal; Earth concentrates on rescue; some aboard the Behemoth celebrate the supposed OPA assertion. Carlos “Bull” de Baca and Michio Pa conclude that the OPA flagship must attack the Rocinante immediately or be treated as its support. The forgery has therefore achieved Clarissa's purpose before anyone identifies it: Holden's earnest public persona now appears to have matured into murderous self-righteousness.
The simulacrum reproduces Holden's brown eyes, earnest squint, early jowls, half smile, voice, and gestures, all transmitted with the authentication of his own ship's systems.
The false broadcast converts sabotage into apparent ideology, framing Holden and forcing the OPA to choose between killing him and sharing his supposed guilt.
