Story so far
With ancillary systems disabled, the primary exterior elevator remains locked midway along the Behemoth's two-kilometer drum. A stored secondary car cannot move until the first is removed and locked down, so Holden and Corin climb the hard-vacuum shaft manually and cut through the blocking car. The unfortified route offers the resistance's only unexpected approach to command.
The spinning drum normally prevents access to a maintenance corridor on its opposite side. When Ashford needs four power suits to bypass the fortified elevator shaft and reach engineering, command slams the habitat's brakes. The entire ship vibrates from screech to howl before an enormous final bang. Everyone living on the inner surface undergoes another abrupt inertia change, with casualties still unknown.
Stopping the drum changes the vessel's tactical topology. The armored loyalists gain their alternate path south; Holden and Corin lose the interception mission and continue north toward command. The generation ship's greatest humanitarian asset—spin gravity—becomes another weapon used by its captain against the population sheltering within it.
Appearance
The immense drum has stopped rotating after a screaming mechanical deceleration. Its exterior elevator shaft is dark, vacuum-filled, blocked by a steel-and-ceramic car, and lit only by EVA lamps.
Role
The Behemoth is a contested machine whose gravity, elevators, maintenance corridors, atmosphere, reactor, and laser are all being weaponized by opposing commands.
Relationships
Corin — Corin cuts through the blocked car and turns its hatch into a planned defensive position.
Naomi Nagata — Naomi Nagata remains in engineering while the ship's altered layout exposes her position to the armored counterattack.

Chapter 6
- Under thrust, the Behemoth's beautiful generation-ship design becomes a two-kilometer trap whose added rail gun may strip away its own hull.
Chapter 10

- The Behemoth reaches the Ring with reinforced weapons and fractured leadership, then loses its chief engineer just before word of a destroyer's explosion.
Chapter 16
- The Behemoth's improvised bridge fires one missile at the hijacked Rocinante, then loses power when its untested launcher shorts the electrical grid.
Chapter 18
- After thirty hours of riots, rescues, and emergency repair, the wounded Behemoth prepares to burn through the Ring despite a Martian ultimatum.
Chapter 19
- The repaired but vulnerable Behemoth begins its burn toward the Ring, prompting Earth civilians to seek a joint crossing and Mars to threaten force.
Chapter 22
- The Behemoth crosses safely into the slow zone, becomes the OPA's inadequate military representative, and offers neutral custody for the Rocinante's civilians.
Chapter 27
- The Behemoth loses two hundred people and orbital control, yet its dormant drum may provide the trapped flotilla's only gravity.
Chapter 30
- The Behemoth sheds weapons, starts a common broadcast, receives wounded rivals, and changes captains when Ashford tries to reverse its transformation into refuge.
Chapter 32
- The Behemoth restores spin gravity and turns its old livestock stalls into a prison where Clarissa confesses and Ashford quietly plots restoration.
Chapter 36
- The Behemoth's spinning drum blooms into a cross-faction tent city while strict disarmament and shared media turn refuge into provisional government.
Chapter 48
- The Behemoth's two-kilometer exterior shaft becomes an assault route, then Ashford violently brakes the habitat drum to open the opposite corridor for armored loyalists.
