Hammurabi

MCRN Hammurabi · the Hammurabi

The Martian warship receives Holden from the surviving recon marines and becomes the center of a jurisdictional struggle with Bull's Behemoth refuge.

Story so far

The surviving Martian reconnaissance team transports James Holden from Ring Station toward the Hammurabi at the slow zone's restricted velocity. The trip will take several hours, but he is alive and formally under Martian arrest.

Captain Captain Jakande refuses Bull's request to send Holden to the Behemoth, citing absent orders and Martian custody. She instead offers to accept overall control if the OPA transfers its flagship. The Hammurabi therefore holds the one prisoner whose competing claims could fracture the emerging cooperation, while its captain resists the political center growing elsewhere.

Appearance

The Hammurabi is a Martian naval warship trapped in the station-controlled orbit. Its exact size, hull geometry, weapons, damage, and markings are not described.

Role

The Hammurabi is Holden's Martian detention site and the institutional counterweight to the Behemoth's claim to unified emergency authority.

Relationships

James Holden — It receives James Holden alive for arrest, interrogation, and possible extradition.
Captain Jakande — Captain Jakande commands the ship and refuses to transfer its prisoner without orders.
Behemoth — Its continued separate custody competes with the Behemoth's attempt to consolidate people, evidence, and command.
Mars — It acts as a surviving Martian command platform after other ships fall silent or evacuate.
