Cavalier

Martian frigate Cavalier · the Cavalier

The crippled Martian frigate shuts down under its surviving second lieutenant and transfers every remaining person and supply to the Behemoth.

Story so far

The Cavalier survives the catastrophe but can no longer function as an independent frigate. Command has fallen to Second Lieutenant Scupski, indicating losses among its senior officers. Under him, the ship shuts down its reactors and begins transferring all remaining crew and supplies to the Behemoth.

Its evacuation is the first full Martian acceptance of Bull's consolidation plan. Rather than maintain a separate armed hull, its survivors surrender weapons under OPA rules and move toward the only ship preparing gravity, medical concentration, and common communication.

Appearance

The Cavalier is a Martian naval frigate now captured in the station's debris orbit, shutting down its reactors before evacuation. Its exact hull form, damage, and markings are not described.

Role

The Cavalier is the first named military ship to abandon independent operation completely and commit its survivors to the Behemoth refuge.
