Story so far
Amos joins the crew's refusal to transport Clarissa by calling the issue tactical rather than moral: almost everyone present has dirty hands, but carrying a notorious prisoner threatens the ship. Once Anna and Tilly remove that risk through ownership, he accepts the arrangement without pretending Clarissa is harmless. The medical cuff gives every crew member immediate sedation authority.
Aboard the Rocinante, Amos meets Clarissa in the galley wearing welding gear and smelling of solvent and sweat. He compliments the damage her gland-enhanced bare hands did after the salvage mech lost power. His joviality coexists with the knowledge that he will kill her if necessary, a conditional honesty she finds unexpectedly comforting.
When she suggests a failing actuator causes the crumpled hatch to bind, Amos takes the idea seriously. He reprograms her yellow restraint for supervised access, calls her Peaches, gives her a tool belt, and brings her into the machine shop. Instead of reducing her to killer, savior, or prisoner, he treats her as someone who can diagnose and fix machinery. The nickname and shared work open the first practical route toward belonging.
