Story so far
Ashford responds to Clarissa's opened doors with purple-faced rage and an immediate order that someone shoot her. His guards remain focused on the corridor assault long enough for Cortez to shield her and the firefight to distract them. He continues demanding laser readiness while command defenders wait for Holden's ammunition to run out.
Ruiz finally reports that the grid is restored, diagnostics are green, and the laser should work, pleading not to be killed. Ashford releases his pistol and enters the firing commands. Clarissa activates her combat glands, crosses the bridge through gunfire, and hits his shoulder and head hard enough to launch him away before his finger reaches the control.
From the access panel, Clarissa reverses a brownout buffer and forces a cascade that makes the ship fail closed. Ashford regains his couch, catches his pistol, and aims at her while screaming. Cortez launches with a taser between them. The command lights flicker and vanish before the shot or struggle is resolved. Ashford reaches the absolute end of his authority with every weapon and order dependent on a grid his chosen bodyguard has destroyed.
