Okju dies when Ashford violently brakes the Behemoth drum, her broken neck ending the quiet companionship and faith she brought to the Rocinante documentary.
Okju joined Monica's documentary team as a sturdy, devout camera operator who reached toward the guarded Rocinante crew through cooking, stories, and prayer. Her bowed head at the first shared meal reminded Holden of his father Caesar. She later transferred with Monica and Clip to the Behemoth, where their production work became Radio Free Slow Zone.
During the loyalist attack on the studio, Ashford abruptly stops the rotating habitat drum to open an alternate route for armored fighters. The inertia change throws Anna, Okju, chairs, and a potted ficus into a tangled weightless mass. Anna wakes with Okju's foot tucked under her arm and tries to rouse her. The camera operator's head lies at an acute angle, face slack and eyes empty. She has broken her neck and died instantly or before help could reach her. Her death is one of the scattered casualties imposed across the refuge merely to change a tactical route.
Okju is a sturdy Earther woman with frizzy brown hair held by an ivory-colored comb. She wears a buttoned blouse, several rings, and a silver pendant.
Okju is the dead camera operator whose personal faith and ordinary kindness end in the indiscriminate human cost of Ashford's tactical drum stop.
