Tem

the skull of Tem · the kaiju beetle skull

A giant Hercules-beetle Nothing-creature whose colossal skull is reused as a race finish-line obstacle.

Story so far

Tem was a badass-looking giant beetle creature — resembling a three-story Hercules beetle — that until days ago resided within the Nothing, freed by Justice Light's trap. The crawler Odette 'wasted him the moment he appeared,' so the dungeon reuses parts of his corpse across the races. In Heat Three his enormous colorful skull blocks the finish line at the bottom of the long incline, the migrating Sugar Hermits swarming toward it to lay eggs.

The AI ominously notes that Tem 'has friends who are still alive,' and that the skull's sheer size is worth remembering. Carl, riding the truck's hood, shatters the kaiju skull with his kangaroo feet in the chaotic finish.
