Touching a God

God-Touching · The Changelings' True Purpose

Team Retribution's real objective: physically touching deities, which has so far been near-uniformly fatal.

Story so far

Justice Light names it outright as the answer to everything the Changelings have done: 'The gods. It's all about the gods. It has been about them the whole time. You're risking it all so you and your kind can physically touch as many of them as possible.' Juice Box does not deny it, only asks where that leaves them.

The attempts have gone badly. At Club Vanquisher the changelings were positioned in case gods appeared — they did not cause the appearance — and lost three people. One managed to touch Bast, the panther god, but died before she could escape. Three others touched the basilica ogres that came up from below. To date only a single changeling has touched a deity and lived, and Juice Box says flatly that that one is 'wrong.' Justice's offer is precisely this: he can show them how to touch a god and not get killed, in exchange for honoring the alliance and backing Operation Ruin without sabotage.

Role

The hidden goal driving Team Retribution's entire war strategy, and the currency Justice Light uses to buy them.

Changelings — Risking everything to accomplish it, presumably to add gods to their library.
Juice Box — Directs the campaign and counts its casualties.
Bast — Touched successfully at the cost of the changeling's life.
Justice Light — Claims he can teach them how to survive it.
