No Man's Land

The battlefield · The wasteland

The blasted flat ground between the trench lines, now a rock-strewn wasteland of corpses and dormant traps.

Story so far

Once flat land, the ground between the trenches has turned into a wasteland. Rocks litter the battlefield, along with corpses that are still dangerous and must be avoided. The dirt spine left over from the Rot Sticker Behemoth defense still crosses it, and Carl has to scramble over the remnants during The Charge.

The gleam of resistant traps glitters undisturbed across it — all of them the crawlers' own. Pulse lights rip through the fog like scythes, poison-infused rocks crash down trailing green fumes, high-tech grenades burst orange against tanks that don't exist, and flaming rocks roll in through the smoke. Both armies continually refill the space with concealment, so it is almost never visible for more than a moment.

Appearance

A flat expanse churned into rubble and bodies, veined by an old dirt spine, hazed with green-tinted smoke and lit by strobing lights and scything pulse fire.

Role

The killing ground the crawler assault has to cross to reach the enemy trenches.

Relationships

Carl — Crosses it on foot during the charge.
Rot Sticker Behemoth — Its earlier defense left the dirt spine still crossing the field.
