Story so far

As Carl is about to voice his conclusion about Epitome Tagg, everything freezes and a notification announces that an Emergency Ejection sequence has been overridden. The Dungeon AI explains that a galactic power — Glory himself — attempted to assassinate Carl using a little-known but still active control panel that lets the Syndicate override certain showrunner-controlled aspects of the game. It didn't work, and the AI is openly irritated at having been tricked from behind its own back.

The AI issues a blanket warning to everyone listening: every crawler in the dungeon will die when and if dungeon conditions warrant it, not before and not after, and there will be no more meddling. It reminds the audience what happened to the The Mantids when it was irritated with them, tells Glory he should be very worried about his adult children even if he himself is out of system, and states there will be no more warnings. Reward: nothing. Only Carl fully registers the stutter, though Katia feels it.
