The return from transfer that Carl and Donut timed as the opening move of their assault.
Story so far
Carl and Donut both had a plan for the moment they transferred back, treating the return itself as the trigger for the whole operation. The transfer routed them to fixed destinations—Carl to the Saferoom, Donut to The Castle—and each had a task to execute immediately on arrival.
Carl could tell the plan had already gone sideways from the sheer number of messages that appeared the instant he returned. Before reading any of them he checked the officer list for casualties, then began working through Elle's report of Prepotente's rampage.
