Sponsored Trap

Sponsored Traps · Advertisement Trap · Trap Sponsorship Pilot Program

Pilot program this season letting companies sponsor dungeon traps, which announce their advertiser before triggering.

Story so far

This season the dungeon runs a pilot program in which traps carry corporate sponsorship: the trap announces its advertiser aloud before it goes off. Everly had encountered a few of these across the floors, and the announcer man described the program as a trial.

The Tower Maze takes the concept to an extreme Everly recognizes as something else entirely — an entire fifty-level structure built as one advertisement, its summit note read aloud in an unfamiliar voice, closing with "This dead end was sponsored by Dictum Waystation Controls, Limited" and the tagline "Don't get caught with nowhere to go." The ad's true audience is the watching center system; its actor was the sponsor's own crawler, killed for the campaign.

Role

Monetization mechanic that turns lethal dungeon architecture into ad inventory, and the means of Everly's death.
