Crawler Army

Story so far

The volunteer force arrives in this chapter. Doctor Porthus Hu conceived the plan — refurbish one of the garbage freighters into a passenger liner — and put out a call to former crawlers willing to re-enter the dungeon to help with Faction Wars. He was overwhelmed by the response: Florin confirms just over 50,000 signed on, and Tipid tells Carl they came "to help fight their former captors," continuing even after Carl succeeded in getting the protections turned off.

They enter under The Standard Merc Package: level 60 regardless of their original levels, a non-permanent race and class of their choosing, and absolutely no gear. What they bring instead is experience — Tipid insists every one of them is at least a tenner, all having survived Faction Wars or Land War, with a couple of Battle Royale winners in the ranks. Several cookbook authors are among them, including Rosetta and Tipid as colonels in The Princess Posse, but most are ordinary veterans, like the three Bune who lope through the Saferoom and wave on their way into the guild.
