Katia's Rehab Treatment
Multi-hour treatment that puts Katia under, which Carl intends to use to accomplish a second, undisclosed goal.
Story so far
Katia is scheduled to begin a rehab treatment during this chapter, leaving her out of commission for several hours — long enough that Jamal cannot get a working replacement for Jamal's Automaton Harness. Princess Donut is anxious to finish the skunk hunt so she and Mongo can be there as moral support, and pushes Carl to hurry.
Carl says he was already planning to attend, and admits to himself that he hasn't told Donut exactly how much of the rehab he'll be involved in: they are attempting to kill two birds with one stone. The venue is the Saferoom Imani's team found buried a mile and a half from the hunt, now ringed with workers building a small base. The Skanked debuff ultimately keeps Donut away entirely — she is sent to the southern front to speed up trench construction instead, leaving Carl to sit with Katia alone.
Role
The chapter's hook, a medical procedure Carl is quietly repurposing for something he won't name.
