The Dagda

The Dwarf Voice · The Good God

Friendly dwarven god whose voice reaches Carl through the All Tree and steadies him mid-breakdown.

Story so far

As Carl's mind buckled under the Madness psionic barrage, a familiar male voice — friendly, and to Carl's ear a dwarf's — spoke to him inside the river of souls. It told him to steady himself, that he'd done it before, and that what his enemies took for his greatest weakness was in truth the rock the rest of him was built on. It reminded him this was the second time it had told him he wasn't crazy, and that after what he'd done, he was family now.

The voice directed Carl to look at his feet, buried in an All Tree root, and stayed with him until Mind Balance hit level 16. Its parting line — "She would be proud of you" — went unexplained when Carl snapped awake before he could ask who.
