Mental Voice Messaging System

Chat · Party Chat · Messaging

Crawler-to-crawler messaging Carl uses to reach Donut from inside the memory world at the decisive moment.

Story so far

With The Fuse override one mental push away, Carl reaches out through the messaging system: 'Donut, are you doing okay?' Donut replies in her customary capitals — 'WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK? I MISS YOU.' — and Carl answers that he misses her too. The exchange works even though Carl is sitting inside The Memory Simulation at The Gas Station.

Those few lines are what tip the decision. His anger at the powers who did this is bright, he admits, but not bright enough. Before pressing Disconnect Containment he sends one last message: 'Donut, I'll be back soon.'
