Story so far
When Mongo clamps his jaws around the backside of Gustavo 3, the rottweiler triggers Porcupine Defense with a ringing shing. Dozens of steel quills burst from the dog's body in every direction, impaling the raptor and pushing up through his mouth to explode outward through his scales from the inside out, showering blood.
Carl recognizes it as a spell he has seen before. A follow-up attack electrifies the quills for a second round of damage, and then, faster than Carl thought possible, the dog whips in a circle and the quills are simply gone, freeing him to lunge for Mongo's throat.
