Engine of Tomorrow
Li Jun's clockwork replacement eye, granting muscle-reading precognition and short bursts of slowed perception.
Story so far
The Engine of Tomorrow is the replacement eye Li Jun wears after his injury. At rest it appears as a swirling orb of pure black; when active the black resolves into a miniature clockwork engine, all of it contained inside a round eye. Carl finds both the look and even the name of the thing a little freaky.
Carl does not fully understand the mechanism, but it grants Li Jun the ability to see muscles tensing and to slow his own perception of time in short bursts, letting him predict where an opponent will strike next and react with amazing speed — Bullet Time from the Matrix movies, as Carl puts it. Li Jun and Li Na have been training with it nonstop.
Appearance
A round prosthetic eye that reads as a swirling black orb until it engages, when it becomes a tiny working clockwork engine sealed in glass.
Role
Prosthetic eye that turns Li Jun into a precognitive counter-fighter.
