A level 41 shark from the fifth floor's ocean, found dead in a Larracos alley - suffocated when the Semeru Warden opened the drain, and promptly vaporised by Carl's fist.
Carl and Donut land beside its corpse. A long, jet-black, very dead shark curled up in the corner of the alley, marked with the X of a corpse on his display, and it doesn't look as if it's been dead long - the district was only very recently drained.
Its inspection text: 'Concierge Shark. Level 41. Killed by suffocation when the Semeru Warden finally decided to open the drain.' The presence of fifth-floor ocean water and its sea life in the lowest ring of Larracos is Carl's first clue about where in the funnel-shaped city he has landed.
With no living targets available under Ceasefire rules, the shark becomes the answer to Carl's Soul Poisoning. He lifts the dense, slippery thing with both arms - it keeps trying to slosh out of his hands - throws it up, and destroys it with Daughter's Kiss, filling the alley with red stinking mist and earning Sushi Smoothie.
A long, dense, jet-black shark, slick and slippery enough to slosh out of a grip, curled dead in the mud of an alley.
The chapter's convenient corpse - proof of how recently Larracos was flooded, and the vessel for Carl's soul discharge.
