The AI

The system

The dungeon's governing intelligence, feared enough that even a lawyer will not tell the Syndicate to go to hell.

Story so far

The AI's authority is felt in the epilogue as a quiet threat. Quasar tells Carl that if he were not afraid the AI would turn his asshole into a new wildlife habitat, he would tell them all to go fuck off rather than present these exit deals.

It is the same intelligence that insists everything happening in the negotiation room be by the books, that prices information about The Eleventh Floor at a full season on any deal taken, and that pings audibly the moment Carl officially declines. Even as the Syndicate government comes under open attack across the known universe, the AI's procedures continue exactly on schedule.

Role

The dungeon's governing intelligence, whose rules hold even as the wider order collapses.

Relationships

Quasar — Fears it too much to refuse the deals outright
Carl — Charges him a season to learn the next floor's name
Syndicate — Enforces the by-the-books process the government demands
