The Homeless Shelter

the Florida homeless shelter

Florida shelter where Carl met the residual Paulie, an encounter the whole galaxy watched come to nothing.

Story so far

Carl cites the Florida homeless shelter as his precedent when arguing with Zev: Agatha is a Residuals just like that guy at the homeless shelter, and he was told they're harmless — so why the sudden change? Zev confirms that when Carl went off to meet Paulie last floor everyone was riveted and it turned out to be nothing, that residuals appear in the dungeon every season, and that they truly are harmless as far as she knows.

Orren later told Carl that Agatha is a different kind of residual than the one at the shelter. Carl's private recollection of what really happened between him and Paulie suggests the public verdict of "nothing" was wrong.

Role

Site of Carl's first residual encounter and the baseline he uses to challenge the new warning.
