Story so far
Killed in the Temple of Khepri along with nearly her entire court, Princess Vinata is dissected in absentia by Rishi, the one naga courtier who refused to follow her inside. He says he warned them all not to go, but the princess believed her plan to kill Carl with a god was a sound one — and Carl concedes it very nearly worked.
Rishi reveals that Vinata was a firm believer in The Great Consensus, hardened by having seen war on alien soil. Her father insisted she participate in the Faction Wars because the naga needed tourist money and needed the Naga Shipyards staffed and running; her own plan was to steal an entire fleet and take a whole generation of naga off in a direction none of the tunnel threads point. She would never have signed Rishi's treaty with Earth, and did not.
