Guildhall Instructor

Guildhall Instructor in the Poetry guild

York's post-crawl teaching post in the Poetry guild, the origin of his compulsive and terrible verse.

Story so far

York's status entry lists him as having worked as a Guildhall Instructor in the Poetry guild after taking the deal at the end of the tenth floor, alongside his time as a Game Guide.

The post explains the man readers meet in the epilogue. Alone aboard the Homecoming Queen, York forces himself to think in verse, composes three-beats about the hive the Syndicate destroyed, and broadcasts poems over open bands until captains block him from the local feed. Colonel Boomer rates all of it worthless and needles him about it constantly. York keeps writing anyway, because he believes there can be beauty in words twisted the right way, and that the correct verse could raise that which was lost - meaning, in his case, his own capacity to feel.

Role

The teaching post that made a hollowed-out killer into a compulsive poet.
