Story so far
Milk does not appear in the epilogue, but the shadow of her contract does. When Quasar lays out the exit deals available to Carl after Faction Wars, he singles out a Desperado Club bomber's guild offer with a contingent exit clause that is, in his words, almost as bad as the clause Carl's bizarre friend Milk had.
It is a small line that carries weight: the terms Milk once accepted are the galaxy's standard for how badly the system can bind a crawler, and Quasar uses them as the measure of what he refuses to let Carl sign.
Role
The cautionary precedent whose contract sets the floor for how bad an exit deal can be.
Relationships
Carl — His friend, whose contract clause is invoked in his own negotiation
