Benefactor Box
Gift box sent by a crawler's sponsor, containing items chosen by the benefactor rather than the system.
Story so far
Benefactor boxes are the mechanism by which sponsors deliver gifts to the crawlers they back. Everly's sponsor, Dictum Waystation Controls, Limited, had been quite generous with them across the floors, which is exactly why she trusted the next one.
On The Eighth Floor the box contained Gordon's Compass of Vertical Labyrinth Management — an item deliberately chosen to walk her into The Tower Maze and die there for an advertisement. The chapter is a clean demonstration that a benefactor box reflects the sponsor's interests, not the crawler's survival.
