Dictum Waystation Controls, Limited

Dictum

The company leasing waystation spots, holding a twenty-five-thousand-credit monthly note Zander can no longer pay.

Story so far

Dictum leases the platform slots that waystations occupy, and Zander paid his life savings to lease the spot for Squirties, just outside the main tunnel access route to the Earth system.

The embargo has made the arrangement fatal. With nobody passing through the tunnel gate, no refueling customers for days and not even reporters coming by, Zander cannot cover the twenty-five thousand credits a month he owes Dictum - and he expects to be indentured for it. The company's contract turns a galaxy-scale political crisis into one small alien's personal ruin.

Role

The lessor whose unpayable monthly note will turn a bankrupt shopkeeper into an indentured one.

Relationships

Zander — Owes it twenty-five thousand credits a month he cannot pay
