The Map

Minimap · Crawler Map

The crawler mapping display, blind to automatons, and hand-annotated by Katia to chart the shifting Reaver corridors.

Story so far

Katia pressed the map against the wall of The Reaver Castle's entrance and rapidly circled and rearranged hallways as Bautista fed her position data from stuffed animals thrown into the Honeycomb Hallways. Carl also used it to try to pinpoint Samantha's position deep inside the castle so he could place Jamal correctly.

Its key limitation showed when the assault came: there were no dots on the map for the incoming Robot Doggies, because automatons do not register, meaning they would be silent and fast. Carl recognized the pattern from the automatons he uses himself.

Role

Navigational tool of the crawl, and the reason the sentry dog wave arrives unannounced.

Relationships

Katia — Annotates it against the wall to chart the shifting corridors
Carl — Uses it to locate Samantha and place his people
Robot Doggies — Invisible to it because they are automatons
