Story so far
The Order follows the Pact in an enormous book, using bulleted lists, cross-references, graphs, and tables for disasters, air handling, population growth, uprisings, and psychological control. It calls for preparation for war after a failed cleaning. Bernard uses it to train Lukas and says it teaches that ideas are contagious. Psychologists shaped its treatment of behavior, and Anna names Victor as its author.
Thurman gives Donald the book as required project reading and expects near-memorization. Donald connects it with paranoia and says medication let him study without fearing its implications. As Troy, he studies it to run a silo and conduct assessments. It prescribes suspicion of unexplained accounts, prohibits intervention in a silo’s collapse, and, according to Donald, requires shutdown when camera feeds and calls cease. Anna says its rules justified Silo Forty’s shutdown; Eren later says the text has changed.
Jimmy finds disaster procedures and instructions for cistern water but no guidance for total solitude. John’s blue copy supplies end-of-world instructions and security guidance, but he abandons it after the crash. Dmitry then concludes that The Order describes only one shift within a far longer program. Once the true timescale is known, the founders recognize its population-replacement guidance.
