Story so far
Erik’s supply of girders initially limited the possible tunnel length. After surviving the escape through the dig, he measured the silo schematic and estimated that reaching Silo Sixteen could take two weeks, while digging to Silo One would take much longer. He proposed draining and exploring the mines for supports and clearing earth so the digger could turn. Although doubtful of success, he saw continued digging as something to do while they remained alive.
Erik said his wife Lesley survived by going down to their two children while others on her level went upward; he believed she was that level’s only survivor. He offered Juliette whatever she needed for her planned attack and insisted she take dynamite. During the later escape preparations, he calculated travel distance and estimated that an oxygen bottle could serve twelve people. Outside, he encourages Raph to put a branch on the fire.
