Silo Seventeen Security Radio

The caged security radio in Solo’s refuge once connected him to local portable radios; after the fire, it no longer powers on.

Story so far

The wall-mounted security radio was secured inside a metal cage, with its switches and dials accessible. It could communicate with the portable unit carried by Solo's Father, and Jimmy used it to speak with his father and Deputy Hines. A security guard later took the portable radio from the floor and questioned Jimmy through it.

Alone in the refuge, Jimmy lowered the wall radio's volume until its hiss was barely audible. He also left it on overnight to listen for voices, though its static made him dream that outside air was leaking through the door. After the fire in Solo's Home, the radio no longer powers on.

Appearance

A wall-mounted radio enclosed in a steel cage, with accessible switches and dials.

Role

Formerly a local communication link for the refuge, the radio is now inoperative after the fire.
