Platinum Sharpening Stone

the black rock

A short-shelf-life whetstone that permanently buffs a spiked weapon's damage and stats — Carl uses it on his gauntlet.

Story so far

The Platinum Sharpening Stone is a little black rock from Carl's Platinum Quest Box (won for saving Hump Town), which also held 5,000 gold and twenty healing scrolls. Mordecai flags it as exactly the kind of item-enhancing loot crawlers start earning now. Applied to any spiked offensive weapon (it has a short shelf life, so must be used at once), it grants +[2 × current level]% damage to all attacks and +1 to all existing stat buffs, and makes the weapon look meaner and oilier.

Carl rubs it along the spikes of his gauntlet, which glows, its spikes lengthening, granting an extra point of dexterity and strength when formed.

Appearance

A small black rock/whetstone; leaves treated weapons looking oilier and more menacing, with slightly longer spikes.

Role

A one-use weapon-enhancement stone, permanently boosting Carl's spiked gauntlet.

Relationships

Carl — Who applies it to his spiked gauntlet for a damage and stat buff.

Mordecai — Who identifies it as item-enhancing loot worth using immediately.
