Shi Maria's Fifth Eye
A hidden forehead eye that appears to deliver Shi Maria's permanent blindness or insanity to anyone who looks upon it.
Story so far
Samantha tells Carl that if he fails to praise Maria's appearance, the spider may open a fifth eye and cast his mind into endless psychosis. Carl initially treats the threat as part of Samantha's dramatic translation.
During negotiation, he sees the eye closed in the middle of Maria's forehead. It is only marble-sized and distinct from the four large black eyes.
Carl infers that opening this eye is how Maria delivers her ultimate blindness and insanity effects to observers. Even while closed, it produces a strong mental sensation. Maria later suggests Carl's damaged mind may remain permeable despite Liquid Therapy.
Appearance
A small sealed eye centered above four large black spider eyes, radiating pressure through its closed lid.
Role
The fifth eye is the visible casting focus for Maria's permanent mind afflictions.
