Drakea's Death-Possession Note

Twenty-second-edition AI note

Crawler Drakea records a theory that the System AI possesses defeated mobs at death to learn what total loss feels like.

Story so far

After reaching the tenth floor, Drakea notices mobs increasingly embrace death with a mixture of joy, curiosity, and frustration. The emotions appear only once defeat is certain.

Drakea connects this pattern to the increasingly strange voice and rulings of the dungeon. The proposed explanation is that the AI temporarily enters monster minds at the moment of death.

It seems desperate to experience losing everything but repeatedly fails to understand, increasing its frustration. Drakea fears the theory sounds unhinged and wishes the AI could instead occupy one of the hostile nagas.

Appearance

A cookbook note illustrated with an artificial presence entering a dying monster's eyes.

Role

The note gives historical evidence for the AI's current fixation on Carl, death, and mob consciousness.
