Black Nimbus Spell

Black Nimbus · black-nimbus

Black Nimbus temporarily removes the benefits and protection of divine worship but does not cancel a god's authority, wrath, or chosen punishment.

Story so far

Carl's Defiler ring grants Black Nimbus as an anti-clerical spell. He considers using it to stop Ogun's smite and can target only one of the condemned men.

Carl casts it on Anton. Dusky light surrounds the crawler, a black crown appears, and Ogun's shunned marker disappears.

Ogun explains that the spell removes Anton from his protection and mercy, not his wrath. Instead of receiving Paz's survivable sentence, the unprotected man is crushed immediately.

The failed intervention establishes that suppressing worship mechanics is not equivalent to severing divine jurisdiction.

Appearance

A crown of black light hovering over a worshipper as divine symbols fade from their body.

Role

Black Nimbus is a risky tool for stripping divine benefits whose use can remove the protections limiting a god's punishment.

Relationships

Carl — He casts it in an attempt to save Anton.
Anton Lopez — It removes his remaining divine protection.
