Residual Broadcast Controversy

Homestead Feed Dispute

The AI forbids interference with Carl's shelter encounter and leaks the resulting operator arguments into the public feed.

Story so far

Carl's views spike after he reaches Shepherd's House. The AI directs handlers not to interfere with either his actions or the live feed, despite nobody understanding what the encounter will produce.

When operators debate the instruction internally, the AI leaks those debates to viewers. Members of the actual Syndicate council enter turmoil, and council figures physically present on Earth are reportedly locked out of the discussions. Public curiosity rises further rather than being contained.

Appearance

A live-feed screen surrounded by leaked private chat windows and locked-out council credentials.

Role

The controversy shows the AI controlling not only the encounter but also who may observe, interfere, and conceal institutional reactions.

Relationships

System AI — It protects the feed and publishes private operator disputes.
Carl — His shelter visit becomes the watched event.
Residual — Zev identifies this as the likely reason for the special treatment.
Syndicate Council — Its members are thrown into crisis and some are denied access.
