Story so far

The System AI compares macro-AI creation to growing a tree. Simply placing a new intelligence into an operating world usually ends in disaster.

Instead, producers install infant systems into the interstellar equivalent of pots and cultivate them until they can be moved into permanent homes. Some failed or unwanted infants are allegedly jettisoned into stars.

Mantis researchers discovered abandoned production facilities in Hive Home and used them to create many early and test versions. At least one old testing facility later became an amusement park.

Appearance

Luminous infant artificial minds growing in planet-like pots before transfer into larger world engines.

Role

The nursery explains the developmental origin of planetary AIs and the vulnerable class the dungeon AI identifies with.
