Slippery corporate spy who hitched onto the Rocinante, betrayed Holden on Eros, and was left to die infected.
Kenzo is a corporate spy — a self-described consultant for Davila Aerospatiale who spent two years stealing codes and tech from Fred Johnson's Tycho Station — who, having dipped too deep into Johnson's affairs, fled aboard the Rocinante by hitching a ride after frying his own transmitter. Talkative, self-serving, and full of useful knowledge, he survives Holden's threats to space him by bargaining: he supplies the Martian black-ops recognition codes (the "donkey balls" trick) that bluff a patrol skiff away, and offers his Eros contacts to help find "Lionel Polanski" in exchange for being let go. He preaches survival and grates on the crew, especially the volatile Amos.
But Kenzo's loyalty runs only to himself. He betrays Holden's location at the Blue Falcon flophouse to the assassins lying in wait — claiming afterward he was tricked — and on Eros, as the station becomes a protomolecule death-trap, he again bargains his backdoor codes to unlock the Rocinante. Pleading for his life, he insists Holden is "a good man" who believes in mercy. Holden's answer is to walk him into a contaminated area and leave him behind to die infected — "we're better off." The spy who survived on usefulness and treachery meets his end as a casualty of the very catastrophe he kept trying to profit from.
A corporate spy and traitor, used and then abandoned to die infected on Eros by Holden.
