Shed is the medic aboard the ice-hauler Canterbury, a friendly, talkative crewman who tends to the crew's bodies and their pharmaceutical needs — out of Z-PRO sleeping aids, but willing to deal something "a little stronger" to anyone with the scrip. He chats with the injured loader Paj about the new prosthetic arm the company will try to cheap out on, and praises the inner-planet bio-gel that can regrow a limb perfectly, an enthusiasm the Belters around him wave off as "magic Jell-O."
Part of Holden's boarding team aboard the derelict Scopuli, Shed is among the extra eyes called to the bridge and is the one to wonder aloud where all the bodies are. He survives the destruction of the Canterbury as one of the five aboard the shuttle Knight.
