Jikininki

janitor ghouls · the Janitors

Seven-foot suited ghoul-janitors of the Tangle, insatiable but well-mannered flesh-eaters who leave you alone if you don't bleed.

Story so far

The Jikininki are the Iron Tangle's most common ghouls, working the rails as ravenous janitors. Carl's party first meets two in a windowless "Janitor's Lair" car, where Carl double-shots them with Magic Missiles and Mongo decapitates one. The system claims they'll ignore crawlers who don't bleed, don't litter, and don't invade their space; later a passing pair is simply allowed to shuffle through the conductor's car unharmed.

They board at stairwell stations and can be spawned on demand, and by the floor's end they swarm the Abyss like ants, stripping crashed trains.

Appearance

Hunched, emaciated seven-foot ghouls with skin dragging arms, long black serrated porcelain-clicking fingernails, faces of teeth and bulging white eyes, wearing tattered double-breasted suits and 'Janitor' conductor caps.

Role

Common mid-level ghoul mob (level 17) and the trains' janitorial custodians.

Relationships

Drek — Their smaller baby-like cousins that share the platforms.
