Minion Army

Tome of Minion Army · the mass-charm spell

A convoluted five-minute mass-charm spell that flips a fraction of intelligent enemies to your side.

Story so far

Minion Army is a spell Princess Donut gained long ago from a first-floor Beguiler Box but could never cast — it costs 50 spell points, more than her pool allowed. On The Iron Tangle, her climbing Intelligence plus the persistent Good Rest and shower 20% stat bug finally push her to 52 spell points, letting her read the tome at last. The spell is powerful but rare-use: a five-minute casting time that freezes the caster in place, a five-hour cooldown at level one, and a base thirty-meter radius that scales hard with Charisma.

It works only on intelligent mobs, and at level one each has just a two-percent chance to turn and fight its allies. Mordecai has always insisted it can be a great spell in the right circumstance; Carl flatly forbids her to cast it unless he says so, since being frozen for five minutes is usually a death sentence.

Appearance

A spellbook tome; in effect, a slow-building mass enchantment radiating from the frozen caster over a wide circle of enemies.

Role

A high-cost, situational mass-charm spell in Donut's kit, finally unlocked mid-floor.

Relationships

Princess Donut — Its owner, who unlocks it once her spell points reach 52.
Mordecai — Champions the spell's hidden value despite its awkward mechanics.
Carl — Forbids casting it except on his say-so, wary of the five-minute freeze.
