The Hlene

Story so far
The H'lene are an extinct race Mordecai surfaces while decoding the Iron Tangle. In the early days of the Syndicate, the H'lene system set up six waystations near the galactic center that were secretly traps — the H'lene robbed, ate, and stole the technology of travelers who stopped there. They were wiped out by the Valtay and the orcs and no longer exist, but they're often depicted as mimics in Syndicate lore (though they weren't really mimics).
This is why the floor features exactly six giant station mimics near the abyss — a historical in-joke folded into the map's political cartoon.
