The Syndicate

the snakes and rats · the Naga and the rats

The galaxy-spanning governing body over the dungeon corporations, whose courts and rules quietly bind even the AI.

Story so far

The Syndicate is the overarching authority above Borant Corporation, reaching into The Iron Tangle through court orders, rules, and unseen enforcers. Its court's veto of an earlier ruling has soured Borant's System AI, prompting spiteful "apology" boxes; its rules forbid watching crawlers on the actual toilets, a loophole the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook's authors exploit for secret reading. The old cookbook notes seethe with hatred for the Syndicate's Naga and "rats," recalling the single ruinous season the Naga once ran.

The Syndicate looms as the true, cold machinery behind the whole cruel enterprise.

Appearance

An abstract institutional power, felt through court-order error messages, rule notices, monitoring "rats," and the reputation of its Naga elite.

Role

The governing body whose laws and courts constrain the corporations and the AI.

Relationships

Borant Corporation — The show's operator, subordinate to and overruled by the Syndicate's courts.
Dungeon Anarchist's CookbookBk 2 — The secret guide whose past authors rage against the Syndicate.
